The following guide will lead you through thinking and discussion around a selection of local art using a method called Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS). This selection features artwork from five different artists in five different spaces using five different mediums, all portraying similar themes of togetherness. All featured artwork is by Atlanta-based artists and was on display in and around the city at the time of publication.
WHAT IS VTS?
Visual Thinking Strategies (VTS) is a method used primarily in classrooms and museum settings to guide thinking and discussion around visual content. VTS is presented here in hopes to educate the viewer on the methodology and encourage the viewing of the featured artwork in person. You can use VTS as a tool to help you think deeply about the art using these 3 questions:
